Leslie Jones was low on dress options for the premiere of “Ghostbusters,” so the starring actress turned to Twitter late last month to vent her frustration. “It’s so funny how there are no designers wanting to help me with a premiere dress for [the] movie. Hmmm, that will change and I remember everything,” she wrote at the time. Her luck quickly changed: Christian Siriano raised his hand (via emoji) and swooped in to design a gown fit for her summer blockbuster premiere. Jones debuted that dress — a long, cherry red, off-the-shoulder gown, with high leg slit for good measure — at the movie’s premiere in Los Angeles on Saturday night.
“I want to thank my baby @csiriano for making me this fabulous gown and for my wonderful stylist @bmcstylez for putting this look all together!” Jones wrote on Instagram, calling out the designer as well as her stylist, Brian Mcphatter.
Siriano seemed pleased with the result of his work. “Now that’s how you do it! You look stunning Leslie! Simple, elegant, powerful and chic! @lesdogggg at the premiere for her new film wearing Siriano,” he wrote alongside a triptych of her red carpet look.
Jones’ followers were also enthralled with the result, with comments ranging from “No one would design you because they were afraid they’d fail. But oh how you made that dress fly,” to “Gorgeous! @lesdogggg you not only look phenomenal, but I’m so excited for the world to see how funny and talented you are! You look stunning!”
Siriano had even more to celebrate this weekend. In addition to the “Ghostbusters” fashion credit, he also wed his longtime partner Brad Walsh. Their wedding was attended by several other leading ladies who have donned the designer’s gowns — Alicia Silverstone, Christina Hendricks and Danielle Brooks. And naturally, the couple’s bridesmaids also wore creations by Siriano.
“Ghostbusters” is out Friday.
