PARIS — Loewe, the Madrid-based fashion and leather house owned by French luxury conglomerate LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, has a new president.
Alberto Puyol Pineda on Monday was named as president and chief executive officer, replacing Fabien Debaecker, who had been at Loewe’s helm since January 2003.
Pineda comes from retailing and publishing. He worked for the European subsidiary of Vanity Fair, and most recently as general manager of Spain’s fast-growing Women’s Secret lingerie chain. A graduate of Barcelona’s ESADE business school, he started his career with Spanish multinational food company Gallina Blanca.
Pineda arrives at a time of growth for the house, which holds warrants from the Spanish royal family. LVMH has singled out Loewe’s robust sales in recent trading statements.
This, in part, is thanks to designer Jose Enrique Ona Selfa, a Belgian, who has brought a sophisticated, globe-trotting style to the company since he came on board three years ago.
