NEW YORK — Supermodel-turned-lingerie diva Elle Macpherson will offer a sexy surprise come February — an upscale brand called Boudoir by Elle Macpherson Intimates.

The line is inspired by items worn by strippers, Macpherson said.

“It’s really sexy underwear you would find in trashy lingerie stores, but it’s beautifully made in silks and laces, with wonderful color combinations,” she said. “I just wanted this kind of lingerie, but it was so tacky because I would have to go to strippers’ joints to find it.”

Macpherson said the Boudoir collection will be aimed at “women to dress for themselves or to wear for men to have more fun….It’s really the idea of seduction. I think now women are feeling more grounded and confident in their sensuality.”

Prices and styles have not been finalized. Macpherson noted that distribution will be aimed at major high-end stores.

Macpherson was in Manhattan at last month’s innerwear market to promote her year-old EMI lingerie in the U.S., which she described as having “strong sell-throughs” at stores such as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. She also appeared on ABC’s “The View,” where she plugged her intimates line with Barbara Walters, saying that she likes to give celebrity friends Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Kate Bosworth, Stella McCartney, Elizabeth Hurley and Sienna Miller holiday gifts of her lingerie.

“A lot of my friends wear my lingerie because it’s really comfortable,” Macpherson said. “At Christmastime, I feel a bit embarrassed giving my lingerie as gifts to my friends because I don’t want them to think I’m cheap. But we’re all very supportive of each other. Elizabeth gives me her swimwear.”

Macpherson said her penchant for lingerie goes back to her teen years, and “beautiful bras and knickers” have always been her favorite items.

As for sleepwear, she said: “When I’m with my children, of course I wear sleepwear. But when I’m by myself or traveling, I don’t sleep in anything. When I’m at home I wear what I call after-work, after-play and after-sex wear.”
