NEW YORK — Some may call fashion fickle, but professional ties can actually last a lifetime in this business. Just ask Marc Jacobs and Christy Turlington.

Turlington met Jacobs when she first came to New York at 16, and the duo has been crossing paths — or runways — ever since. More recently, the designer and the Nuala yoga-wear founder created a special, co-branded yoga mat bag, and proceeds from its sales will benefit the Cancer Care charity.

The Christy is a canvas shoulder bag with leather trim and such signature Jacobs details as bold nickel rings and zippers and exterior leather pockets. “We love Christy and would do anything for her, so when she approached Robert [Duffy, Marc Jacobs’s president] with the idea about the yoga bag, he definitely wanted to help,” said Jacobs. “Basically, it combined two things that are important to us and our company, working with a great friend and helping support a cause.”

The bag, which will retail for $350, was slated to be introduced at the Fashion Coterie this past weekend.
