NEW YORK — Parisian street chic, subtle Asian motifs, even a little Bianca Jagger — this resort season has it all. At Gucci, Tom Ford offered up his signature steamy fare, this time with plenty of hand-worked elements. “When you gather and pull with every stitch,” he says, “something seemingly simple takes on new life.” He describes the jackets, skirts and dresses, often pieced together with ribbon-like strips of silk, as “chic, sexy and glamorous,” which are, he adds, “the same words I always use.” For Céline, on the other hand, Michael Kors did what he calls “Bombay Bianca,” an homage to Jagger with Indian-inspired details. This means such Seventies-style silhouettes as deep V-neck halters, loose short tunics and even a belted cutout maillot, some with golden sari trim or long black fringes. Stella McCartney, meanwhile, mixes sexy street chic with romance. She pairs a girly zipped blouson with skinny stonewashed jeans and adds bead-embroidered details to the waist of slim pants.
