PARIS — The big French department store chain, Printemps, may be getting a fashion makeover.

Catherine Royer has been appointed the store’s buying director for women’s fashion and accessories.

She replaces Jacqueline Provence. Royer, previously an executive of brands management with the Courtaulds Textiles group, which includes the Paris-based Georges Rech rtw label, started her new Printemps job on Tuesday.

Prior to joining Courtaulds in 1991, Royer spent 22 years at the central buying office of Printemps’s competitor, Galeries Lafayette. Provence worked for Printemps for 33 years. She was not able to be reached for comment on Tuesday.
