The Huntington, Calif.-based company that caters to surfers, skateboarders and snowboarders will be teaming up with other action sports clothing lines and video producers to create programming for their target audiences. It will be offered in the spring or so to local cable subscribers for a yet-to-be-determined monthly fee, a Quiksilver spokeswoman said.
“This is not going to be a Quiksilver branded network. We’re just the first to sign on as a major provider of content and marketing,” she said. “We’re launching the initiative. We want to provide a venue with the entire industry.”
Programming will include documentaries, short films and pay-per-view options for such events as a Quiksilver-sponsored surfing tournament. Quiksilver has an extensive action sports video library, featuring footage from some of its sporting events like the Roxy Fiji Pro surfing competition.
The company owns 38 freestanding stores and produces apparel under the Quiksilver, Roxy and Hawk labels.
