During the latest quarter, the firm took a $33.7 million write-down of its Avia subsidiary, reducing net income to $1.3 million, or 2 cents. Sales for the fourth quarter were up 5.9 percent to $751.3 million from $709.2 million. In the U.S., Reebok brand apparel sales jumped 28.8 percent to $48.8 million from $37.9 million.
For the full year, income from operations fell 17.6 percent to $209.7 million, or $2.64 a share, from $254.5 million, or $3.02, for 1994. After an $11.2 million charge tied to the streamlining operations segments, net income came to $164.8 million, or $2.07. Sales for the year rose 6.1 percent to $3.5 billion.
