NEW YORK — Sean “P. Diddy” Combs might be known for a certain bravado, but next month he’ll have reason to brag.
The Black Retail Action Group, known as BRAG, will present Combs with a special recognition award at its 34th Annual Scholarship and Awards Dinner Dance at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers on Oct. 15.
Harlan Brandon, chief executive officer of his eponymous shoe collection, will receive the J.J. Thomas Innovators award. Business achievement awards will go to Anne Carter, vice president of diversity at May Department Stores Co.; Julius Walls, ceo of Greyson Bakery; Gary Williams, owner of the Gary Williams showroom, and Jean Griffin, vice president and group design director at Fairchild Publications, which publishes WWD.
Founded in 1970, BRAG is a nonprofit group devoted to ending discrimination on the basis of race or native origin.
