NEW YORK — Kurt Salmon Associates, a leading management consulting firm specializing in retailing, consumer products and health care, has appointed William B. Pace as chief executive officer, succeeding Peter G. Brown, who has become chairman of the board.

The previous chairman, David A. Cole, has been named chairman emeritus.

Pace is a founding partner of Swander Pace & Co., a leading strategy consulting firm serving the consumer packaged goods industry in North America, which merged with KSA in 2000. Pace was president of Swander Pace & Co. from 1996 to 1999 and grew the firm more than 50 percent in staff and revenues. Pace has served as a principal in KSA and a member of KSA’s finance committee since the merger.

With more than 20 years in management consulting, Pace has advised firms around the world on strategy development, mergers and acquisitions, and operations.

Pace said in a statement: “It is truly an honor to work with such outstanding colleagues and clients. KSA is uniquely positioned to help our clients meet the challenges of the future. The question is simple: ‘as economic recovery begins, are our clients positioned to take full advantage?’ KSA will help our clients develop solutions to achieve superior performance by cutting costs, improving effectiveness of the supply chain and creating growth opportunities.”
