NEW YORK — Paul White has joined ShopKo Stores Inc. as senior vice president and general merchandise manager, softlines, of the ShopKo division.

He assumes responsibility for the merchandising and profitability of apparel, accessories, jewelry and active footwear from Kevin Easton, who was promoted to executive vice president and chief merchandising officer of the ShopKo unit in March. White reports to Easton.

White joins ShopKo from May Department Stores Co.’s St. Louis-based Famous-Barr division, where he’d served as senior vice president and general merchandise manager and senior vice president of advertising and sales promotion.

Earlier in his career, he was affiliated with Federated Department Stores’ Lazarus division and with Elder-Beerman Department Stores.

“Paul’s experience and leadership will be valuable as we focus on improving sales performance and meeting the apparel needs of ShopKo customers,” said Easton in a statement.

ShopKo operates 141 ShopKo discount stores and, in smaller markets, 220 Pamida stores.
