Sofia Richie is readying her debut fashion label, Sofia Stone.

Sofia Richie is ready to flex her design chops.

Richie, the famous daughter of singer Lionel Richie and designer Diane Alexander, is preparing to unveil a fashion label of her own. The line, named Sofia Stone, marks her design debut. The collection is slated for a summer launch on Aug. 30, six days after Richie turns 21.

“I finally feel like I’m at the point in my life where I have so many creative ideas that I want to share and I’m bottled up,” Richie said. “Over the years, buying so many clothes and seeing what I liked and didn’t like and being in the modeling industry, I was around so many designers and I always took notes and tips from them. It came easily and I knew all the little things I wanted and didn’t want.”

For Sofia Stone, Richie teamed with LA Collective, the fashion platform founded by Karl and Jaynee Singer that partners with celebrities and influencers on design collaborations. Sofia Stone will debut with 12 pieces, all of which are priced under $80. The collection is a mix of bodysuits, crop tops, velvet high-waisted pants and suits.

“A funny trick that I did is, inside of each of the pants, I’ve done a ‘snatch yourself’ thing where you can pull it and adjust the waist to your waist so that people don’t have to get things altered,” Richie said. “I constantly am having to get my clothes altered.”

She is planning to release new drops on a seasonal basis; the next will come in November.

With a designer mom and an older sister, Nicole, who founded House of Harlow 1960, Richie is no stranger to the fashion world. “I grew up watching my mom get dressed and designing clothes,” she said. “We all have very different styles in my family, but she definitely was the person that made me interested the most in fashion.”

Richie has 4.3 million Instagram followers, the majority of whom are female and fall within the Generation Z and Millennial age ranges. On her personal feed, her most engaged posts are “glamour shots.”

“[My followers] love the glamour shots,” she said. “They love the glam, the extravagant outfits. I’m excited to shoot this collection and bring them these glamorous photos so they can fall in love with the clothes as much as I did.”
