A motley crew of revelers danced the night away at Studio 54’s “I Love New York” Valentine Ball in February of 1978. Wedged between cross-dressing mascots and bartenders in face paint were model Cheryl Tiegs, “Saturday Night Live” regulars Bill Murray, Gilda Radner and John Belushi, and hockey star Pat Hickey.
Were they looking for love? Well, Tiegs showed up with spouse in tow, as did Belushi. Radner, one of the event hosts, said, “A lover? Here? No.” Hickey said he would rest up instead of hooking up. “I have a game tomorrow,” he said. “There’s probably lots of potential here, though.” Murray, however, was ready to dive in. “I’m gonna score tonight. I hope we all do.”
