UNIFI ELEVATES PARKE: Unifi Inc. plans to appoint president and chief executive officer Brian Parke to the additional post of chairman on Thursday. He succeeds non-executive chairman Donald F. Orr, who will remain on the company’s board. In addition, vice president and chief financial officer William M. Lowe Jr. will add the position of chief operating officer. The Greensboro, N.C.-based fiber company said in a statement that Lowe would focus on day-to-day operations, particularly returning the existing business to profitability, while Parke would focus on building the company’s business in Asia. Unifi said last week it was breaking off talks on a potential Chinese joint venture and instead is planning to handle its entry into that market on its own.
