• TANDY EYEWEAR: Tandy Brands Accessories Inc. has created an eyewear division to expand into the growing reading glasses category. The division will be based in San Francisco and will offer private label, branded and licensed eyewear products. The eyewear will be sourced in China and will begin shopping in July. “Our research indicates that 44 percent of current reading glasses users consider them to be a fashion accessory, versus just 29 percent in 2005,” said Rod McGeachy, president and chief executive of Arlington, Tex.-based Tandy Brands. The company expects the eyewear to contribute to sales and profit growth in fiscal 2010.
