NEW YORK — Trends may come and trends may go, but glamour never goes out of style. Tom Ford, who’s no stranger to that concept, continued that mood from fall to resort at Yves Saint Laurent, with slinky dresses and sharply shaped pantsuits. Looking to the future, he says, “I’m experimenting with new ideas that may go into spring — specifically a stronger shoulder.” But there’s more than one way of creating appealing looks this season. Valentino, for example, went for understatement with a Mediterranean flavor, showing a range of delicate floral dresses and floaty chiffon evening gowns. At Bill Blass, designer Lars Nilsson also used a softer touch, mixing teal, tomato and beige on pretty, long strappy looks and wraps with beaded accents. And even Rena Lange, who’s best known for her suits, added some sexier pieces to her collection this time, including a bright voile dance number and a black eyelet bustier paired with full pants.
