NEW YORK — After 20 years of serving Bellinis to the Ladies Who Lunch, Harry Cipriani at the Sherry-Netherland is expected to close its doors today. “We’ve been coming here longer than I can remember,” said faithful patron Carroll Petrie, who lunched during Cipriani’s final week with friend Anne Slater. “This is so central. We’re so upset,” she added. Regulars will surely miss the cream-colored curtains in the windows; the shoulder-to-shoulder tables; celebrity spotting (on any given day, everyone from Elle Macpherson to Buzz Aldrin) and the jostling as air-kisses flew across the room. Not to mention the familiar face of maître d’ Hassan Elgarrahy, who, friends say, will finally be taking a summer off. Before the last carpaccio was served, some of Cipriani’s loyal customers dressed up for a final farewell to the Uptown institution.
