MILFORT RETURNS: Sonia Milfort has rejoined Arcade Marketing as vice president, fragrance development. For the past three years, Milfort was account manager, fragrance division, at Dragoco. Prior to that, she had held various posts at Arcade over a span of six years.
In her new assignment, Milfort is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with key fragrance clients, suppliers and perfumers, as well as serving as an information resource in the marketplace. She reports to Gary Akins, vice president of olfactory products.
GOLDEN GLOW: L’Oréal wants to keep Hollywood stars dazzling during the Golden Globes. The cosmetics giant has created an 18-karat-gold compact decorated with Swarovski crystals for the female nominees. The Crystal Shine Compact will be hand-delivered the week before the awards ceremony. The compact contains two Colour Riche lip colors and two Touch-On-Colours, to add a shimmery sheer wash to cheeks.

DA BOMB: The Balm, a two-year-old independent lip color firm based in San Francisco, has added a trio of tinted lip gloss sticks to its core assortment of — what else? — lip balms. Razz My Berry, Spike My Punch and Water My Melon, as the flavored glosses are called, fall within an existing lip-plumping sub-brand called Plump Your Pucker, which first debuted with three balms last April. The glosses will be introduced this month in The Balm’s 30 current doors of distribution, which include certain Nordstrom and Sephora locations. As part of a new distribution deal, the gloss sticks will also bow at New York-based specialty retailer Ricky’s, which recently signed The Balm for a special chainwide display unit featuring the full Plump Your Pucker assortment.
In 2001, founder Marissa Shipman brought The Balm to market by introducing — along with Sephora — a trio of beeswax-based balms under the moniker La Balmba. Soon thereafter, Shipman introduced two makeup pots called Time Balm in Light and Medium shades.
Given the Ricky’s expansion, as well as a planned expansion to more Sephora doors, Shipman expects the brand to be carried in 50 total doors by this time next month.
