Donatella Versace, Burberry’s Christopher Bailey and Costume National’s Ennio Capasa were among designers who paid tribute over the weekend to Tom Nicon, a 22-year-old French model found dead in the courtyard of an apartment building in Milan on Friday.

Although some blogs characterized the death as a suicide by jumping, police said the cause of death is still unknown and that no note was found. Nicon had attended fittings at Versace and was slated to model in the Costume National show, among others.

Nicon’s agency in Milan, d’management, declined to comment, but posted a tribute on its homepage, which said, “Such a great model and human being.”

The tragedy comes after a slew of recent suicides in the fashion industry including model Daul Kim in November, designer Lee Alexander McQueen in February and most recently, model Ambrose Olsen in April.
