Inspired by the movie “Black Swan,” Walter Mendez’s gowns evolved from innocent white to Goth drama with black dresses trimmed in green feathers that fanned out from the shoulders and neck. Silhouettes were repetitive and styling was extreme (a short, brown feather coat over a leotard, extra cutouts), but one could see the youth appeal in a strapless dress with a snake-printed bodice and a long-sleeve, silver column dress enhanced by an exaggerated keyhole cutout on the chest.
