SHOE-IN: Hollywould designer Holly Dunlap is adding a third feather to her retail cap by giving her $4 million handbag and footwear business a door on Hollywood Boulevard.
With freestanding stores in New York’s NoLIta and Palm Beach, Fla., Hollywould has a celebrity fan base that skews to West Coasters such as Britney Spears, Mena Suvari, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos and Liv Tyler, so it seemed fitting that the 20-style collection of sexy sandals and sweet flats, wholesaling from $79 to $270, finds a home at the popular boutique/bar-nightclub Star Shoes on Hollywood Boulevard.
Since opening in the fall of 2001, Star Shoes sold only the Joseph La Rose collection, a cache of new vintage stock. That partnership ended when the LaRose collection’s owners found another retail spot. Like that collection, Hollywould will be the only brand sold in the glass cases and window displays at Star Shoes, although the brand is also available at Madison in West Hollywood and Fred Segal and Pearl, both in Santa Monica.
Dunlap estimates first-year sales at Star Shoes will match the just-under $1 million mark of her New York store. The opening bash is June 17.
