NEW YORK — Taking a global approach to keeping its trade show as fresh as possible, Fashion Coterie spotlights vendors from two countries this season with styles almost as diverse as their respective cultures: Japan and Brazil.
The 11 Brazilian designers showing at Pier 90 have the support of the Association of Brazilian Textiles, a government organization dedicated to the promotion and support of the Brazilian fashion industry. Each season, ABIT selects a group of top Brazilian designers to take part in presentations around the world.
Pier 94 will house five Japanese designers sponsored by the Japan Apparel Industry Council. To establish the ambience, JAIC will sponsor the Fashion Coterie Lounge, also situated on Pier 94. The lounge will be a refuge for weary visitors: There, they can sip sake, nibble on sushi and seek solace in the tranquil Japanese garden.
Here, a sampling of the international collections on hand.
