NEW YORK — Zang Toi is finding his inspiration on the snowy slopes this season, and he’s whipped up a squadron of looks that are equal parts snow-bunny and sophisticate. So much so, in fact, that Pamela Gross was overheard saying “These clothes are perfect for Aspen,” to Anne and Patty Hearst at the designer’s fall runway show. And many of them are, like his fitted shearlings and his nylon ski jacket. As usual, some of his knits — like the shrunken poor-boy cardigans — looked good, and he found some ingenious ways to work plaid — into a strapless kilt dress for example. But the suits were a problem — more Dynasty-era Denver than Aspen circa 1994.
