TIE ME UP: After launching a helicopter service last year, Uber hopes to solve wardrobe emergencies at the Cannes Film Festival: The app has teamed with bow tie specialist Cinabre to offer users five-minute delivery of the accessory, which is essential for admittance on the festival’s red carpet.
Sold in stores including Colette and Le Bon Marché, Cinabre says fans of its handmade bow ties include Karl Lagerfeld, Pharrell Williams and Kanye West.
From Wednesday until Sunday, it will sell three models priced at 85 euros, or $97, through the UberPapillon button on the lower right-hand side of the app, named after “noeud papillon,” the French for bow tie. A bike messenger will deliver the purchase for free between 8 am. and 8 p.m.
A limited-edition version created exclusively for the occasion features a flamboyant pink flamingo print.
