A CLOSE SHAVE: The Movember Foundation together with the Blind Barber has collaborated on the opening of Movember & Co., a barbershop dedicated to raising awareness and funds for prostate and testicular cancer, as well as mental health issues with men. Starting Friday at Movember’s Culver City, Calif., headquarters, all profits from haircuts, $40, and shaves, $30, will be donated to the Movember Foundation.
“Blind Barber has always been a big supporter of Movember, and seeing the natural correlation between barbershop camaraderie and the Movember movement, it was natural for us to take the next step together with the Movember & Co. shop,” said Josh Boyd, co-owner of Blind Barber. The Movember Foundation is the leading global organization that promotes men’s health through its annual charity event where men grow and women support facial hair — namely, the moustache — to bring awareness to their cause. The barbershop will be open year round.
“At Movember, we are always looking for ways to keep the men’s health conversation going, not just in November, but throughout the year,” said Adam Garone, chief executive officer of the Movember Foundation. “There’s no better place to connect with guys and have a chat about what’s going on than in the barber chair staying handsome.”
