BACK TO BASICS: Instead of a runway presentation, German designers Otto Drögsler and Jörg Ehrlich decided to showcase a honed-in selection of 30 white shirts and 30 skirts in an exhibition format this season.

Focusing on the creative process rather than the finished product, pleats and hems on shirts were bonded or hand-stitched, and skirt hems were left raw to give “less of a cliché of chic,” Erhlich explained.

The lack of artifice was fresh and let a wide range of fabrics — from upholstery-weight blue and cream brocade to laser-cut flesh-colored neoprene — take the limelight.

Certain pieces, like a brocade, A-line skirt, will also make an appearance in the label’s commercial collection for spring.
