Authentic Brands Group has signed an agreement with Versa Group for the development of a men’s dress shirt line under ABG’s Jones New York brand.
The new line of shirts will be available in the U.S. in spring at better department stores and on the Jones New York web site. ABG in August, when it previewed Jones New York’s fall women’s collection, provided a campaign teaser of the brand’s new men’s line. The men’s line is sold mostly in the outlet channel, a legacy business that ABG inherited when it acquired the brand last year. The preview indicated that the new men’s line would complement the positioning of the women’s line, which has a history of providing minimalistic, yet tailored, apparel for working women.
Jamie Salter, chairman and chief executive officer of ABG, said, “The Jones New York brand is strong and we see real growth potential in menswear.”
Marc Seruya, president and ceo of Versa Group, said, “We see a white space for Jones in the men’s dress shirt market and have plans to accommodate the target customer through this new sophisticated line.”
According to ABG, the men’s shirt line will “reflect the brand’s signature polished and elegant style, offering an assortment that includes essential classic and modern styles with on-trend details.” Key shirt styles will utilize fabrications and textures such as stretch, dobbies, prints and chambrays.
