BEING LEONARDO: Italian perfume company Acqua di Parma will be the host of a special performance of “Being Leonardo da Vinci (An Impossible Interview)” on Monday in Milan, strengthening its commitment to art and culture. Previously, for example, the company has supported performances of Italian ballet star Roberto Bolle.
The enactment — written, directed and performed by Italian actor and director Massimiliano Finazzer Flory — will be held at Milan’s church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, which also houses Leonardo Da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” painting in the refectory of its convent. Before Milan, the play hit several cities in the U.S., including New York, Washington and Providence, part of a traveling performance series that was started in 2015 by Finazzer Flory and Acqua di Parma.
In the play, Finazzer Flory appears as da Vinci with special makeup that shows the artist’s face as it appears in his portrait dating from 1513, and will be asked 52 questions about art, history, science, anatomy and sculpture.
