Like many other online retailers, Adore Me is moving from clicks to bricks.
The lingerie retailer has just opened its first physical store in the company’s Manhattan headquarters. For now, it is appointment-only, with shoppers getting a 45 minute one-on-one meeting with a stylist. It will open to the public on April 5 and store hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is located at 205 West 39th Street, on the 16th floor.
The purchases are placed online through an iPad and then shipped directly to the customer’s home or office. Appointments are also made online. Adore Me’s first step toward a physical store was its recent Valentine’s Day pop-up.
Adore Me’s revenues are growing fast. Revenues for 2015 were $43 million, a 160 percent increase over 2014’s level of $16.5 million. Adore Me is quickly catching up to another intimate apparel private company, Agent Provocateur, whose yearly revenues are reported to be roughly $86 million.
Other e-commerce companies like Warby Parker and Bonobos have moved into physical stores. Warby Parker opened its first store in 2012 and now has 27 locations. Bonobos has created Guide Shops where customers can try on the products found on the company’s website.
