Agyness Deyn in Terence Davies' "Sunset Song."

DEYN TAKES THE LEAD: Some might say that Ruth Bell’s buzz cut might have been inspired by one of her predecessors, Agyness Deyn. But the British-born Deyn has her head focused on other things, namely her acting career. While showgoers were navigating the inevitable New York Fashion Week traffic, attendees at the Film Society at Lincoln Center’s “Film Comment Selects” series got a good long look at Deyn in “Sunset Song.” The model-turned-actress headlines Terence Davies’ feature, which was shown for the first time in New York on Wednesday.

Set during World War I, the feature spotlights Deyn as a resilient heroine tilling the land in fairly country-ish garb as chosen by costume designer Uli Simon. She also lost her signature razored haircut for the role in the movie, which will debut in theaters in May.

Having modeled for Anna Sui, Burberry, Paul Smith and others, Deyn missed out on the New York screening. That’s only because she has taken on another new look and is shooting “The Titan” in the Canary Islands with Sam Worthington, Taylor Schilling, Tom Wilkinson, Diego Boneta and Aleksandar Jovanovic.

Born Laura Michelle Hollins, Deyn was said to have changed her name to better suit her modeling career. She reportedly was first discovered as a teen while shopping with her friend Henry Holland, the designer behind the House of Holland label.
