AHRENDTS’ ACCOLADE: Angela Ahrendts, the outgoing chief executive officer of Burberry, has been named an honorary DBE, or Dame Commander of the British Empire, for her contribution to British business. The U.K.’s business secretary Vince Cable presented Ahrendts with the honor at a ceremony held Monday at the British government’s Department for Business, Innovation & Skills.
As Ahrendts isn’t a British citizen, she won’t be able to use the title “Dame,” but will instead be entitled to use the letters “DBE” after her name. Ahrendts is set to join Apple this spring as senior vice president of retail and online stores, while Christopher Bailey will succeed Ahrendts in the ceo role at Burberry, while keeping his chief creative officer title.
