AKRIS GOES E-TAIL: Akris has jumped on the e-commerce bandwagon. The company launched an e-commerce site Friday in the U.S. at akris.ch, serving up both a digital brand and retail experience. Akris, a third-generation family business based in St. Gallen, Switzerland, is celebrating its 90th anniversary this summer. The site is open initially to the U.S. market, with Europe and Japan to follow in the fall. Akris currently is available internationally in about 600 points of distribution.

The e-commerce boutique has been designed in collaboration with King & Partners and is driven by Resolute Digital.

According to Albert Kriemler, Akris designer and creative director, visitors can view a portfolio of his sketches, as well as steps in the development of two Akris signature materials: double-face and horsehair. “Akris Insider” features a blog and social-media hub inhabited by news and musings from the house. Within the e-commerce boutique, a full range of Akris categories is offered from the Akris and Akris Punto collections, as well as handbags, jewelry, scarves and small leather pieces.

“Every detail of the site is designed to be refined and understated, and to mirror the retail experience of Akris,” Kriemler said.
