SEEING DOUBLE: Alberta Ferretti has decided to show her pre-fall collection together with her Limited Edition designs in Milan on Jan. 13. Men’s Fashion Week is slated to start the following day.
“Today we need to make unexpected choices,” said Ferretti of the single show. “Milan is calling on its designers to open our doors to the city, and for this reason I chose to show within the palazzo that has forever been my Milanese home.” The event will be held at Ferretti’s showroom on Via Donizetti 48, in a historical palazzo from the second decade of the 20th century. Ferretti has recently met with the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, who has been focusing his interest on the fashion industry and working on revitalizing the city with the goal to make it even more international.
Ferretti introduced her demi-couture line of feminine and highly crafted gowns in 2011 with a special event in Florence during Pitti Uomo. The designer has since then opted for itinerant presentations. After Milan in 2012, Los Angeles in 2013, Paris in 2014 and New York in 2015, Ferretti filmed a video in Venice in 2016, presented at special events in cities such as Moscow, until she chose to hold a show in July in Paris during haute couture week. This was held at the brand’s luxury headquarters on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.
Moschino, which is also controlled by Ferretti’s parent company Aeffe SpA, will also hold a show for its women’s pre-fall line in January at the same time as its men’s show for fall in Milan. This will take place on Jan. 14 at 8 p.m. This is the first time creative director Jeremy Scott will present his men’s collection for Moschino in the Italian city.
