GUCCI, ALOE BLACC’S GRAMMY TIME: Gucci Timepieces & Jewelry, which joined forces with The Recording Academy in 2010 to create limited-edition watches and jewelry, threw a pre-Grammy brunch on Saturday where nominee Aloe Blacc performed for a small crowd of industry insiders at West Hollywood’s Sunset Tower Hotel. “I really enjoy intimate acoustic performances,” said Blacc, who delivered a five-song set that included hits “Wake Me Up,” “The Man,” and “I Need a Dollar.” “I am a big fan of the Grammy Museum and of style, so the combination of Gucci and Grammy made sense. Today gave me a chance to tell my story and to honor this moment.” Blacc, who has collaborated with Pharrell, Dr. Dre, and Avicii, donned a white Gucci jacket, saying, “I won’t retire this one because I like it a lot. The idea of wearing something just once is weird to me. You can wear the same thing, you just have to wear it differently. Women get the best fashion. If you’re going to retire a dress, send it to my people and I’ll turn it into a jacket because that gives me the opportunity to have a fresh, new jacket every season.” Gucci Timepieces managing director Michael Benavente attended along with Grammy Museum executive director Bob Santelli, who led a 30-minute Q&A with Blacc in advance of a three-course meal.
