The wave of fashion folk migrating west continues to swell. To mark its 20th anniversary, New York-based creative agency Art Department is opening a West Coast outpost in Santa Monica, Calif.
Founder Jordan Shipenberg, who began his career as an assistant at French photo agency Visage, where he once repped Herb Ritts, now represents Vincent Peters, Martyn Thompson, Mona Kuhn, Ilan Rubin, Bela Borsodi, Philippe Salomon, Richard Phibbs, Bryan Adams, Ben Watts, Eric Ray Davidson and James White, among others. To build a West Coast stable of artists, Shipenberg tapped Los Angeles natives Giselle Keller from Artmix and Chip Adams and Anita Castillo, formerly of Celestine agency, to oversee the new office, which will manage photographers, hairstylists, makeup artists, groomers, fashion stylists and prop stylists. In addition, Shipenberg is launching another agency with Bianca Balconis in SoHo called Honey Artists to represent more directional artists in hair, makeup and styling.
