SUITING UP: Asos has teamed with the British Paralympic Association on a capsule range for the Paralympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro today through Sept. 18.
The British e-tailer has created a line of formal and ceremony outfits for the ParalympicsGB team to don during the opening and closing ceremonies of the Paralympic Games in Rio as well as team appearances.
The collection pays homage to British heritage and, according to the brand, the range is “simple, functional, yet fashionable” and includes a sleeveless shirt, skirt, trousers, shorts and jacket in a color-blocked design in hues of red, white and blue.
The looks will be worn by 264 athletes and support staff.
The e-tailer has been in partnership with the Paralympics since early last year. Paralympians Will Bayley, Jordanne Whiley, Sam Ruddock and Lauren Steadman took to the Asos runway in London last year when the partnership was announced.
Asos creative director for men’s wear and production, John Mooney, noted the brand is “proud to be the formalwear supplier.” He enjoyed meeting the athletes and designing clothes “that will make them look and feel their best at the games.”
Asos is the 10th partner for the BPA. Other partners include Adidas, BT, BP, Deloitte, EDF Energy, Hogan Lovells, Mondelez, Nissan and Sainsbury’s.
