ASTLEY CLARKE BULKS UP: Astley Clarke, the London-based online jewelry site that carries lines such as Shaun Leane, Stephen Webster and Carolina Bucci alongside the brand’s own jewelry designs, revealed it has received a second round of investment from Carmen Busquets, a founding investor in Net-A-Porter, who also joins the company’s board. Busquets has now invested a total of $1.2 million into Astley Clarke. The company said it will use the new funding to invest in the brand’s equity — such as updating the brand’s design and identity and raising brand awareness — along with developing new Astley Clarke collections and investing in interactive technologies to engage with luxury consumers online. Over the past two years, Astley Clarke has also begun to retail in bricks and mortar stores, at Harrods and Liberty in London. Following the investment the company also plans to explore international markets, beginning with a dedicated North American Web site, which launched this week.
