MAYER OF AUSTIN: Neo-soul crooner Mayer Hawthorne, né Andrew Mayer Cohen, brought his preppy attire to South by Southwest on Tuesday. “I can sum up my style: flashy, but classy,” Hawthorne said backstage after his hour-long set at the Samsung Galaxy Sound Stage, where his look included a salmon blazer, white pocketsquare, navy trousers, boat shoes and sunglasses swapped in for his signature black frames. “I would definitely love to get into that world,” he said of plans to potentially design his own line. “I’m working with some people on a few things right now, but I can’t give out any details yet.”

Also under wraps: the title of his next album, which the singer said would be revealed on Twitter next week. Though fans will get a taste of the tracks on Saturday at a Hawthorne-hosted listening party at Austin’s W hotel. The SXSW vet said performance and hosting duties aside, his favorite thing about coming to Austin is sampling the grub. “I am a big foodie. The first couple of years that I came down it was all about the barbeque, and then the more I come, the more I realize how much other great food there is here,” the Michigan native said. “I want everything that Austin has to offer.”
