IN THE LEAD: About a month after Fashion 4 Development’s annual First Ladies Luncheon, the group is extending its reach internationally with Tuesday’s inaugural Leading Ladies Luncheon at the St. Regis Hotel in New York. The event will be a coming-out of sorts for Beatrice Borromeo Casiraghi as F4D’s Special Envoy for Human Rights. Model Natalia Vodianova, a philanthropist in her own right, and Princess Corinna Sayn-Wittgenstein will also be at the gathering of more than 30 influencers.
F4D’s Leading Ladies Luncheon builds from the momentum of F4D’s First Ladies Luncheon, which was held in late September in New York during the United Nations’ General Assembly. The Leading Ladies event is being organized through a partnership with the Global Fund to help raise awareness and support social initiatives in relation to education, gender inequalities and the impact of HIV on women and girls around the globe. F4D’s founder Evie Evangelou will lead a panel with RED’s chief executive officer Deb Dugan; Penny Abeywardena, commissioner of international affairs for New York City and Glamour’s Genvieve Roth. Based in Geneva and representing more than 100 countries, the Global Fund is a financing institution that provides support to countries to try to end AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria as epidemics.
