BEAUTYNOW PLATFORM AIDS IN BOOKING APPOINTMENTS: BeautyNow is the latest app to join the ranks of immediate gratification in the service industry for booking appointments. Consumers can make appointments at spas and salons on the mobile app from wherever the they are.
Founded by chief executive officer Kathleen Jennings, the app unites salons using different forms of scheduling software and connects them with the consumer through a single application. The app is free and includes versions for the iPhone and the Android. Service options include hair, nails, massage, facials, waxing, body services and med-spa treatments. Others in the space include Glamsquad.
In beta testing since May, the app goes live on Friday and already has 10,000 spas and salons connected to the platform, according to Jennings. She estimated that there are 300,000 brick and mortar spas and salons, with another 1 million independents who rent space in a retail site or work at a client’s home.
