KILLING ME SOFTLY: Beth Ditto took over the Basement club at the London Edition Hotel for a karaoke party to celebrate the launch of her new plus-size clothing brand.

Songbooks and request slips from the House of Hot Breath karaoke company littered the bar and the tables, offering the promise of butchered renditions of Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time” or Kate Bush’s “Wuthering Heights” – once enough Belvedere cocktails had been consumed.

“I love karaoke. I do it all the time. I just love seeing people have their moment. I’m going to sing my regular jam ‘Fancy,'” Ditto told WWD. “The original was sung by Bobbie Gentry but Reba McEntire sings the version everyone knows. No one in this country really knows it because you don’t do much country music here. I might do a little Dusty Springfield.”

Ditto did indeed hit the microphone, singing Springfield’s “Son Of A Preacher Man.” A tough act to follow but Wah Nails founder Sharmadean Reid wasn’t daunted: She belted out “Thinking Of You” by Sister Sledge.

Other guests included DJ Princess Julia, Bip Ling, Judy Blame and Amber Atherton.
