LET’S DANCE: It was all about bare gams and covered arms as Beyoncé kicked off her Formation World Tour in Miami on Wednesday night in a custom, long-sleeve Balmain bodysuit.
The singer, who made headlines this week for releasing her controversy-tinged “Lemonade” album, dressed her backup dancers in similar white Balmain bodysuits, theirs cinched with gold leather belts.
Balmain’s designer Olivier Rousteing employed French lace with a floral motif for Beyoncé’s ruffled outfit, which was hand-embroidered with pearls and stones. Accessories included a Victorian-inspired brooch embellished with pearls and glass-bead tassels.
“Beyoncé is the symbol of freedom, the power of women and the confidence of extraordinary talent,” Rousteing told WWD. “The Balmain army becomes the Beyoncé army. I love it when my couture meets music.”
Other European designers also provided looks, including Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared2, who dreamed up an black Victorian-inspired crystal embroidered bustier with velvet, puff shouldered sleeve, accessorized with a big hat and leather gloves.
The tour takes Beyoncé across North America through the end of June before it moves to the U.K. and Continental Europe in July.
