BITTAR MEETS BLOOMIES: Alexis Bittar has a new home. The Brooklyn-based jewelry designer is opening his first shop-in-shop within Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship. Bittar, whose main collection is sold at the department store, will occupy a 170-square-foot spot on the main floor, with an official launch on Nov. 20. The space will emulate a typical Alexis Bittar store in its decoration, with details including the unofficial Alexis Bittar store mascot, an ethically sourced, neon-hued taxidermy wild animal — in this case, a bobcat — hand-painted by artist Frank J. Zitz. The shop will carry pieces from Bittar’s core collections, such as Lucite, Elements and Miss Havisham, as well as several exclusive pieces. Prices for the exclusive items range from $125 to $295. Styles include a two-tone chain cuff, a two-tone bib necklace and pave drop earrings. Bittar plans to further extend the brand’s retail presence in 2015, with boutiques planned for Las Vegas and Washington.
