SCOUTING REPORT: What do cookies have to do with success? A lot, if you ask Ann Keating. “I sold Girl Scout cookies and I must admit, I sold a lot of Girl Scout cookies,” said the senior vice president of public relations and corporate philanthropy at Bloomingdale’s. “People say, maybe that was the start of my retail career.” Keating — along with Linda Descano, managing director and head of content and social, North America marketing, Citi, and president and chief executive officer of Woman & Co.; Dayle Haddon, ambassador for Unicef and founder of WomenOne, and Alan Siegel, founder, president and ceo of Siegelvision — was honored Tuesday evening at the Greater Girl Scouts of New York gala at Cipriani 42nd Street. The event also celebrated the organization’s second century and included a silent auction.

“I’ve worked with Ann for over 20 years and I’ve seen someone who not only do we get a lot of support from and leadership from in this organization, but I’ve seen someone who, as a role model and as a human being, is someone that we admire and respect because of what she does for other people and because of how she represents the brand Bloomingdale’s,” said Tony Spring, the retailer’s chairman and ceo.

“Some day they [Girl Scouts] will remember what they did when they were a Girl Scout and it will probably help them in their career,” Keating said. “The self-confidence instilled in me shaped me into the leader I am today.”
