BRANDING BEAUTIES: With their legions of followers on Twitter and Instagram, beauty lines and even cookie recipes, models like Coco Rocha, Cindy Crawford and Karlie Kloss have proven that the modeling world has grown to represent more than just a collection of pretty faces. In keeping up with the times, The Lions Brand, a New York-based talent management company, has relaunched with a new digital platform that promotes the individuality of each model. Lions Brand, run by fashion industry veterans Ali Kavoussi, Christiana Tran, Louie Chaban and Madisyn Ritland, has already signed Anne Vyalitsyna, Irina Shayk, Agyness Deyn, Karen Elson and Cameron Russell among its 30-strong roster. An example of a multitasking model, Russell not only fronted French Vogue recently but also gave a Ted Talk explaining to young girls why looks aren’t everything.
“It’s about going outside of the box of the normal way of managing a girl,” said Kavoussi, who previously logged seven years as an agent at Women. “Our girls’ modeling careers give us the fuel to develop their authentic brand and to be able to go out and do a jewelry or lingerie line. Or some of our models are musicians.”
