KNIGHT’S SHINING ACCOLADE: The British Fashion Council will honor Nick Knight with the Isabella Blow Award For Fashion Creator at the British Fashion Awards later this month.
Knight will receive his award for his work as a fashion and documentary photographer. From the publication of his first book, “Skinheads,” published by Omnibus Press in 1982, Knight went on to collaborate with fashion designers including Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Yohji Yamamoto and an advertising clientele that includes Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Lancôme, Swarovski, Tom Ford and Yves Saint Laurent. He has worked with a number of editorials for publications including Another Magazine, i-D, Vogue, V and W. Knight launched SHOWstudio in 2000 as a digital platform for fashion film in November 2000 and has worked with a plethora of filmmakers, artists, writers and figures. He has directed award-winning videos for Bjork, Lady Gaga and Kanye West. Knight’s work has been exhibited at the International Center of Photography, the Gagosian Gallery, Tate Modern and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Named after the late British fashion editor, the Isabella Blow Award For Fashion Creator honors a British stylist, makeup artist, photographer, art director or producer. The annual event will take place at the London Coliseum on Nov. 23.
Previous winners of the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator include Edward Enninful in 2014, Amanda Harlech in 2013 and Louise Wilson in 2012.
