As waiters served pigs in the blanket, mini-corned beef sandwiches and shrimp cocktails (all from the Polo Bar), Polo’s guests milled around the McKittrick Hotel in Chelsea, chatting with Ralph Lauren and viewing models wearing the collection. Amid the greenery and flowers, Brooklyn Beckham and Selena Gomez, both dressed in looks from Ralph Lauren, mingled among the guests.
“I really wanted to see his clothes, and I’m wearing Polo right now,” said the 16-year Beckham, dressed in black jeans, a denim jacket and white T-shirt. He said he’s been a doing a little modeling these days “and I’ll see what comes up.” As a student in London, Beckham said he’s interested in photography, particularly “black and white, interesting faces, and portraits.”
Gomez, dressed in a black leather Polo romper, said she will release a new album on Oct. 9 called “Revival.”
“It’s the one record I feel is most important in my career to date,” said the 23-year-old. She described it as a pop music, with some R&B and dance style. Gomez plans to tour next year to promote it. For now, she’s happy to be at New York Fashion Week. Gomez, who met Lauren for the first time at the show, said as a child growing up in Texas, she was so impressed that the designer once had a cameo on “Friends,” and she mentioned it to him.
Gomez said she’s not doing any fashion designing right now, following a four-year stint doing her “Dream Out Loud” brand for Kmart. “It was in my younger phase and it was fun,” said Gomez.
