BUBBLING UP: Made Fashion Week and Italian beer maker Peroni Nastro Azzurro have enlisted Coco Rocha, Antonio Berardi, Jenné Lombardo, Zanna Roberts Rassi and designer Nolan Bellavance as judges for their second annual young talent search. Unlike last year’s prize, which was won by Bellavance and eligible only to recent graduates of Parsons The New School For Design, this year’s competition is open to any aspiring designer in New York, Los Angeles or Miami. Starting today, organizers are seeking, via Peroni’s Facebook page, applicants at least 25 years old — lest watchdogs think Peroni is marketing even tangentially to underage drinkers — who will submit original sketches and mood boards. After being culled down to 15 semifinalists, the judging panel will select three finalists, one from each city, to be flown to New York to present their design visions during a fashion week event at Milk Studios on Sept. 10, where the winner will also be announced. The Made for Peroni Young Designer Award carries a $40,000 prize, half earmarked for producing the designer’s first collection and half for staging a presentation at Made Fashion Week in February. Rocha heralded the competition as “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for one young, talented fashion designer to launch his or her career.”
