CAPED CRUSADERS: After 150 years in business, Faribault Woolen Mill has reimagined its blankets as a capsule collection of capes and vests. As of this morning, the Faribault, Minn.-based company is selling such styles as the $275 Shadow Plaid Blanket Cape with a turned-hem collar made from the company’s popular Foot Soldier blanket. There is also a hooded version for $325.

 

Chief marketing officer Bruce Bildstein said the brand wanted to give its fans the opportunity to integrate the look and feel of their favorite blankets into their everyday fashions.

 

The launch caps off what has been a busy year for the brand, which included collaborations with Target, Rag & Bone and FEED Projects. Those efforts are all the more noteworthy for Faribault workers — who saw the mill shut down for two years until a 2011 reopening.
