Carolina Herrera brought the House of Herrera to Dubai Tuesday night for the global launch of her new fragrance line, Herrera Confidential. “I wanted to invite Dubai to experience the House of Herrera,” explained the designer, who transformed the ballroom of the beachside One and Only Hotel into six private rooms, each dedicated to one of the fragrances from the new collection. The walls were lined with her signature Macassar wood paneling reminiscent of Herrera’s New York City showroom and large arrangements of camellia branches completed the decor, which echoed the atmosphere of the designer’s office, boutique and home. The final stop was an “experimental room,” where perfumists took each guest through how to mix the fragrances and accompanying oils to personalize it for themselves.
Herrera and her daughter, Carolina Herrera de Baez, who serves as fragrance director for the fashion house, spent several hours mingling with the more than 200 guests, sharing memories and experiences that inspired the scents. “Dubai had a very great appreciation for fashion and fragrances and luxury,” said Carolina Herrera on why she chose Dubai for the global launch of her premium fragrance collection. “The bottles are all very beautiful, capturing a different mood and you can mix it with the oils,” said Herrera.
